Symptom

Prometheus cannot scrape node_exporter on 192.168.1.90 (lastvet-api VM). The VM is unreachable or powered off.

Immediate action

ssh pve-r940 'qm status 107'
ssh lastvet-api 'uptime'   # if SSH works, alert may be stale

Diagnosis

1. Check Proxmox VM 107 state and recent tasks.
2. Check hypervisor resources (ZFS, RAM) if VM will not start.
3. Check Tailscale/LAN reachability from observability (.93).

Escalation

Ryan Curry if VM cannot be restored within 15 minutes during business hours.
